Expand your business with the DIA Academy's DVSA-Accredited Fleet Trainer Course and take the next step in your professional development.

Designed for experienced driver trainers, this comprehensive programme equips you with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to deliver professional fleet driver training for businesses and organisations.

The course begins with Pre-course Online Learning and a remotely invigilated Theory Assessment. Once you've successfully completed the online elements, you'll complete your Diamond Advanced Driving Assessment before progressing to Practical Training and the Final Assessment.

Upon successful completion, you'll be eligible to apply to join the DVSA Fleet Register, opening the door to new commercial opportunities and helping you diversify your services, attract new clients and grow your business.

Throughout the course you'll develop the skills needed to coach experienced drivers, improve driver safety, reduce risk and deliver engaging, client-focused fleet driver training using proven coaching techniques and real-world scenarios.

Stage Duration Details
Pre-course Online Learning 2 to 4 hours Complete the online learning at your own pace before progressing to the Theory Assessment.
Theory Assessment Approx. 1.5 hours Completed online under remote invigilation.
Diamond Advanced Driving Assessment Approx. 60 minutes Includes a 15-minute commentary drive, one reversing manoeuvre and a maximum of four driving faults. Conducted by a Diamond Advanced Motorists Examiner. Your assessment date, time and location will be arranged once you've successfully completed the online elements.
Practical Training & Final Assessment 2 days Booked after successfully completing the Pre-course Online Learning, Theory Assessment and Diamond Advanced Driving Assessment. Practical Training and the Final Assessment are currently delivered at our training centre in Crawley, West Sussex, with additional training locations planned in the future.
Course Fee £895 Including VAT. DIA Members save £75.
The course fee includes one attempt at each assessment. Re-sits and any additional training required before re-sitting the Diamond Advanced Driving Assessment are chargeable.
DVSA Fleet Register Fee Separate Not included in the course fee. Payable by the candidate directly to the DVSA following successful completion of the course.

Can I complete the online learning at my own pace?
Yes. The Pre-course Online Learning is self-paced, allowing you to complete it at a time that suits you before progressing to the assessed elements of the programme.
What happens if I don’t pass an assessment?
The course fee includes one attempt at each assessment. If you are unsuccessful, re-sits are available at an additional cost. Any additional training required before re-sitting the Diamond Advanced Driving Assessment is also chargeable.
Is the DVSA Fleet Register fee included?
No. The course fee includes the training and one attempt at each assessment. The DVSA Fleet Register fee is payable separately to the DVSA following successful completion of the course.
Can I book additional driving training before my assessment?
Yes. If you’d like additional preparation before your Diamond Advanced Driving Assessment, training can be arranged with a Diamond Advanced Motorists Examiner for an additional fee.

What is Blended Learning?

A structured programme combining different delivery formats, such as classroom, online, and practical training, to create a comprehensive and progressive learning experience. This approach supports knowledge development, skill application, and measurable professional growth. Typical group size: 10 to 20 participants to support structured learning, discussion, and practical application across the programme.

How To Attend

Book your place online through the DIA website. Once registered, you will receive confirmation details along with joining instructions specific to your chosen training format. For face-to-face sessions, venue information and timings will be provided in advance. For online sessions, a joining link and access guidance will be sent prior to the event.

Course requirements
  • Hold an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) qualification or have equivalent professional driver training experience.
  • Be an experienced driver trainer with excellent driving and instructional skills.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Complete the Pre-course Online Learning before progressing to the practical elements of the programme.
  • Be prepared to complete all course assessments.
  • The course fee includes one attempt at each assessment.
  • If you are unsuccessful, re-sits are available at an additional cost.
  • Any additional training required before re-sitting the Diamond Advanced Driving Assessment is not included in the course fee and will be charged separately.
